| Ruth Holmberg Named Tennessee Woman of the Year in 2003, the publisher
emeritus of the Chattanooga Times Free Press is a former director of
The Associated Press and the New York Times Co., an alumna of
the National Board of the Smithsonian Institution, and a founding
member of the Tennessee Arts Commission. She has served as
president of the Chattanooga Symphony & Opera Association, the
Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Southern
Newspaper Publishers Association. Ms. Holmberg is renowned for
her support of the arts in its many forms and her commitment to
public education. She currently serves on the board of directors for
